Cabaret Gourmet: Chefs, Restaurants, Purveyors, and More!

Home / Special Events / Cabaret Gourmet: Chefs, Restaurants, Purveyors, and More!

On April 24, PlayCo will be hosting our annual gala, Cabaret Gourmet, a celebration of great food and fine art! This year, we have some incredible chefs, restaurants, and vendors joining us. Here is a sneak peak of a few of the participants!

GABRIEL KREUTHER

During the first decade of his career, Gabriel Kreuther created culinary delights at Michelin-starred kitchens throughout Germany, France and Switzerland before bringing his talent to The States. Gabriel began at La Caravelle & Restaurant Jean-George Central Park before going on to his roles as Executive Chef of the much lauded Atelier in the Ritz-Carlton and The Modern, where his cooking received numerous accolades throughout his nearly decade-long tenure. In June 2015, Gabriel opened the eponymous restaurant, Gabriel Kreuther. Here, Gabriel combines his classic French training and Alsatian heritage with his love of New York City to create a comfortably luxurious experience in the heart of Midtown Manhattan.

ME AND YOU

A unique private dining experience like none other. Every dish is custom crafted to suit your taste, play to your palette and inspire your juices. Chef Jehangir Mehta has dreamed of having a private kitchen so personal and intimate he can tailor menus to each who dine. Me and You is that dream coming to life. When you dine at Me and You, you dine in Chef Mehta’s private kitchen, and the whole evening is really about the experience as well as the food. Chef will present each course, telling stories about the ingredients, and on occasion, their connection to a memory from his childhood in India.

BREUCKELEN DISTILLING

Everything we sell is made entirely from scratch here on 19th Street in Brooklyn. From scratch means from milling whole grains to bottling, every step of production is performed here by our people. We select our ingredients from local producers most importantly and from organic sources, second. All of our grains are sourced from NY farms; most are grown by our farmer Thor. Simple and natural is good. So we don’t use any coloring, additives, extracts, or fancy filtering to alter our spirits. We let the result of our ingredients and process be the flavor of our spirits.

NORDIC PRESERVES

Nordic Preserves, Fish & Wildlife, a pale wooden stall announced by a caribou head on one wall, is an unusual addition to the Essex Street Market on the Lower East Side. Annika Sundvik, above, and her partners, John Lavelle and Lu Rapunil, specialize in Scandinavian foods, offering house-made items like herring in an array of marinades, like citrus and hot curry, gravlax, meatballs, sauces, pickles and potted game. (The cooking is done at the other Nordic Preserves location, in La Marqueta in Harlem.) Imported cakes, candies, cheeses, flatbreads and condiments like shrimp paste are also available.

RED TAIL RIDGE WINERY

Red Tail Ridge is a boutique winery located in the heart of the Finger Lakes. We specialize in limited production cool climate wine grapes. Red Tail Ridge is a 52-acre vineyard and winery located on the western shore of Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes region of up-state New York. Our winery is named after the two nesting pair of hawks who live in the woods surrounding the vineyard. They are our constant companions when we are working on the vines. We are a husband and wife team, so vineyard development, winegrowing, winemaking and management are currently divided up between us, Mike Schnelle (viticulturist) and Nancy Irelan (winemaker) with some helping hands as well.

Join us for all of this delicious food and drink at 7pm on Monday, April 24, at Diamond Horseshoe! More information can be found at: http://playco.org/plays/cabaret-gourmet/
