Our 12th, annual Cabaret Gourmet is right around the corner, and we are supremely excited to be honoring musician, actor, and foodie, Questlove!
Drummer, DJ, producer, culinary entrepreneur, New York Times best-selling author, and co-founder of The Roots – Questlove, is the unmistakable heartbeat of Philadelphia’s most influential hip-hop group. He is the Musical Director for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, where his beloved Roots crew serves as house band. Beyond that, this four-time GRAMMY Award winning musician’s indisputable reputation has landed him musical directing positions with various artists from D’Angelo to Eminem to Jay-Z. Questlove has also released two books including the New York Times bestseller Mo’ Meta Blues and Soul Train: The Music, Dance and Style of a Generation. One of his latest endeavors includes scoring Chris Rock’s film, Top Five, and also working as the film’s music supervisor. He will also serve as the Executive Music Producer and Composer on the A&E Mini Series “Roots.
Questlove is proud to announce that his new book somethingtofoodabout, is set for release on April 12, 2016 via publisher Clarkson Potter.
With this book, Questlove jumps into the world of food and restaurant culture. And while he’s not a stranger to the restaurant world (he has curated several restaurants in the city, and frequently hosts food salons), this book is a fresh take on the field. Described as “a love letter to food and modern chefs,” the book is an exploration of the lives and inspirations of some of the biggest and most creative names in the culinary world today through a compendium of conversations. Featured in the book are chefs Daniel Humm, Dominique Crenn, Ludo Lefebvre, Nathan Myhrvold, Donald Link and more. Through this deep exploration, Questlove connects food to creative culture and gives readers a highly sensory experience.
